being a money sensible grown-up tonight and foregoing seeing bettye lavell at fitzgerald's and instead opting for a whole foods run. our kitchen is quite, quite bare. get to finish watching "american splendor" and get some serious clutter wiped out.

tomorrow promises a full day of yoga, shopping and cabaret. not often you get those three words in one sentence. ohmmmmmm, show tunes shanti!

pondering how to make this winter less dreadful than its predecessors. perhaps bikram yoga will be a new diversion during the drafty nights. efforts are being made to enjoy chicago more, lest my days here spin away without remembering how wonderful the city is.

corner to corner, no brainer

coming in to the agency early always puts me in the worst frame of vehicular drama. witnesses a serious differential in gas prices, not a block apart. a shell station on pulaski just off the mob scene on highway 94 had regular unleaded at $2.73 whereas the marathon across the street posted theirs at $2.48. 25 cents is a hell of a margin. ain't like shell's gas finna cure anyone cancer. i saw $2.49 at the corner of pulaski and wilson, then evened out at $2.41 at my work hood's bp. i'll fill up there on the way to the studs terkel reading tonight. wonder if we're destined to see that spritely old man because women & children bound to be packed. he's gonna give the goods on interviewing musician royalty over the years. Mole and i will be waiting for dish on janis and bob.

winter descends

the first flakes rained from the sky today. four layers of clothes plus scarf, hat and mitts for the first time of the season. grey skies with strict regularity. are changes coming with the winds?
